From the Head of Department
"The Civil Engineering Department was established in 1991 along with the inception of the Institute and has been playing a key role in transforming the vision of the Institute into reality for over three decades."
The syllabus of the Civil Engineering Department has been designed by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education in such a way that a student, after passing out, can immediately become useful as a construction engineer / entrepreneur and fulfil the demand of the construction industry.
Our pass-out students are working in Central & State Govt. and prestigious industries like L&T, Gammon, Simplex, Sapoorji & Paloonji, Afcons Ltd., NCC etc. Moreover, most of the Nirman Sahayak working in Purba Medinipur District under P&RD, Govt. of West Bengal, passed out from our institution.
The Department has developed highly equipped laboratories and possesses the latest survey instruments and a very good computer facility including the latest software on CADD. Our aim will always be to ensure that present and future students enjoy all facilities that one would get at any Institute of national repute.

Geotechnical Engineering experiments including soil classification, shear strength & compaction tests.
Flow measurement, Bernoulli's theorem, pipe friction, turbines & pump experiments.
Tensile, compressive, bending & torsion tests on metals and structural materials.
Concrete mix design, slump test, compressive strength & aggregate testing for road construction.
Total station, theodolite, levelling, chain surveying with the latest survey instruments.
Water quality testing, BOD, COD analysis, sewage treatment and air quality monitoring.
